Ray Carter is a licensed Minnesota Business
Broker. He has over 20 years experience leading finance functions that
facilitate strategy development, new business analysis, and
refocusing/turnaround of domestic and international operations. Ray’s
financial management approach including deployment of performance
metrics received international recognition as a best practice for
supporting and driving business strategy.
Prior to joining Sunbelt, Ray served in a number of financial executive positions including several
CFO/ controller roles for Fortune 100 company divisions with revenue
over $1 billion. In these positions, Ray participated in numerous
acquisitions, divestitures, and deals ranging from $50 thousand to $1
billion. While serving as the top cost executive for a $6 billion HVAC
corporation he successfully initiated and drove a complexity reduction
process to significantly improve profitability and to strategically
refocus the company by rationalizing manufacturing, improving supply
management, ensuring competitive designs, and pruning the product
offering. The article published about this effort was awarded the IMA
Lybrand Gold Medal, and the International Federation of Accountants
FMAC Article of Merit as it was judged to have, or will be likely to
make, a distinct and valuable contribution to the advancement of
management accounting.
Ray has a B.A. with emphasis in accounting from
Howard University and earned a MBA from the William E. Simon School of
Business, University of Rochester. He is a former member of the
Turnaround Management Association and has held cost management, cost
improvement, and performance measurement seminars throughout the world.

Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul helping people buy businesses and
