Grow or Go? – Sunbelt seminar for business owners a big success

Here’s a summary of the things we learned:

  • Most businesses are sold for a multiple of earnings
  • The multiple YOUR business sells for is effected by 1) the size of your business 2) your company’s Value Drivers
  • These Value Drivers are driven by Risk and Growth.
  • The more Growth (or stability) you have in your company the higher multiple buyers are likely to pay when you sell your business.
  • The more Risk you have, say such as large customer concentrations or your business is owner-centric, the lower the multiple will be.
  • Focusing on these Value Drivers, and reducing Risk and amplifying Growth, will increase your business performance AND make your business value higher.
